McDonald's giftcards as a prize?

somebody125@gmail.com

Old Ronald McDonald has been around for years. It's pretty much an icon now. An icon for fast food and unhealthy junk.

I'm pretty much a health freak. I try to carry my own lunch, excersise regularly, ect. Now I hear that as HAB prizes, they give out a bunch of $5 gift cards to McDonalds. Why McDonalds? There is Jamba Juice, which is still not the healthiest place, but not as bad as McDonalds.

I mean, some of my buddies told me that they spent an entire month in 7th grade talking about the dangers of fastfood. The even watched a documentary about it. I have heard that Dr. Mirigan had fought against having sodas in school and has tried to decrease the amount of high calorie stuff.

It shows on our menu. No greasy fries, no sodas, only baked chips. While, there are some greasy stuff on the menu, there is always a grilled chicken sandwhich that tastes really good.

Now the school supports it? It's just ridiculous. There is a plethora of different shops and venues to choose from.

Sincerely,
The Editor

Twilight

This book has garnered millions of fans. You can seen this book in practically any girl's backpack. Teachers are even reading it. Ha, I even see guys reading this.

I gotta admit, it's pretty good.

I have been reading this book since December. It is ADDICTING! Edward is just THE perfect boyfriend. It's not just about romance -- There's a ton of action scenes. I won't ruin the ending for you. :)

If you like Harry Potter, you will like Twilight. I've stayed up untill 1 AM once just to finish reading it. I recommend it anyone.

Sincerely,
The Editor

Do you guys remember those personal entries I used to write? You can probably go back to the October one or November or December and find them there. I think one person didn't like them I stopped writing it.

Does anyone want to see it again? Tell me in the comments section and if some people like them, I'll start again. And if so, what kind of things do you want to know about me?

Compatibility Test

Written by the Editor somebody125@gmail.com

For 2 bucks you get a list of names of who you are "most compatible" with. Right in time with Valentine's Day!

I always love buying these things. They are usually the center of gossip for the first week. Of course, the saying is, "opposites attract" so I don't know if these matches are very correct. ;) But they always spice up a sad day.

I think it's a great fundraiser for Merit Club. I think 2 dollars is pricey, but most people still buy them.

My friends always say, "I guess some people would rather buy a piece of paper than a burrito."
My buddies love burritos.

I got no teachers on my list this year. Last year I got some though.

Sincerely,
The Editor

I seriously must start writing a lot more... Happy president's day everyone! and belated Valentine's Day!

The Lunch Line

For the second time in the past seven days I have gone lunchless out of pure disgust at the actions of my fellow students. On a regular lunch day when I buy lunch in the a la carte line, I arrive to find a line about 10 feet long outside of the door, which is a reasonable wait time. Sure enough, I watch as at least ten people procede past me and cut. These past Fridays, however, I find the line compacted around the door with people cramming inside and widening the line. Despite my best efforts to stay in the doorway and let the line in front clear out, more people shove me aside and cram the line wider than it was.

Unless the school can get more staff helping with the line, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WIL STOP THESE STUDENTS WHO HAVE NO COMMON SENSE FROM CUTTING AND WIDENING THE LINE. THERE HAS GOT TO BE CROWD CONTROL.

Weird Business Sense

First of all, I must start with HAB checks. I understand that they are nececcary because parents do need to know what kids are doing in school and what they have for homework. It also makes sense to punish kids if their parent doesn't see their HAB. What doesn't make sense is for the school to spend $1500 of it's money to buy kids more crap they don't need. It just doesn't make sense. $1500 bucks that the school could use for other important stuff like, hmm, an updated computer lab is being wasted on some expensive prize that only one kid in the school receives and then some more money is spent on some stupid candy, etc. that kids also don't need. I also feel that the months it takes to save up for whatever expensive item I want makes that item more enjoyable and teaches me the value of the dollar.

Moving on, yesterday was the first day of the semester, and as such we had an assembly. I congratulate the school on having the bleachers installed, and also congradulate them on making one of the HAB Check Prizes be a seat on the bleachers. However, I think it's FREAKING STUPID that right after deciding to use $1500 to give kids crap, they ask for a fundraiser to get money. Gee, i wonder what they could have used that $1500 for instead of the HAB prizes, and I thought that these fundraisers couldn't get any more stupid! I refuse to participate in this idiotic charade they call fundraisers, and instead would rather just walk into the office and hand them a check for $20 which the school will get all of and not just half. I, for one, am not accepting the prize from their raffles if I win, which I won't because I won't enter the raffle if I have a choice about it. I hope I'm not the only one that feels this way about our school's weird business sense.
