Back to School Dance & LTA

It was the Back to School dance yesterday from 3-5. For most of the seventh graders, this was a totally new experience. Fun and exciting. With DJ Hightop, it was even better. Most eighth graders don't attend because this dance is mostly for the seventh graders. Another reason why most eighth graders chose not to attend is because the dance wasn't at night from 7-9. In my opinion, it wasn't a bad dance. Just a little less exciting than last years.

Another event that happened yesterday at lunch...another lunch time activity hosted by Leadership. Thanks you guys, for making lunch interesting! I saw a lot of people laughing at people lying on the ground, with people standing on top of chairs and throwing ice cream on them. The event was called "Human Sundae." There's usually a lunch time activity every week.

Hope you guys are having a good year so far!

Sincerely,
The Editor

Magazine Drive

It's time for our annual magazine drive! The theme this year is: GAME ON!

To the eighth graders, this was basically a review. We've already seen this assembly last year, but the prizes changed. I think. And I don't remember the exact amount of money we earned, but it was a lot.

I know a lot of people are excited about this, but about I'm predicting that about 1/2 of us probably won't participate. The idea of getting prizes got people talking, but the idea of of selling magazines wasn't too thrilling.

I have to admit some of the prizes ARE pretty cool, like the camcorder or speakers.

To the people who are participating: GOOD LUCK!!! And have fun with your new prizes. Haha. And remember, if you want the mystery prize, you can go online to www.QSP.com, and register online!

A good thing about today, our classes were cut short.

Sincerely,
The Editor

P.S Don't forget, there's going to be Stilt Races tomorrow at lunch. For the seventh graders, I recommend going. Our lunch time activities are pretty entertaining and there's prizes!

First Day Of School 09

So it's our first day back at Centerville Junior High.

Welcome back, eighth graders! And I hope the new seventh graders
(or sevies, as most eighth graders perfer) have two great years at Centerville! :)

A typical first day of school for a lot of people, just seeing old faces again, meeting new teachers, complaining about them, and basically just having fun. There wasn't much for the eighth graders, just an assembly and new distribution room, and some new teachers to get used to. For the seventh graders, I saw the confused looks on some of their faces as they tried to figure out where all the classes were. The transition from sixth grade to junior high is big, so it takes some times getting used to. Good luck, you guys.

There IS one thing that didn't make much sense to me today....

The HAB prizes are still going on.

While we're in an crisis: our buses are no longer available and they barely give enough money for teachers to work with, the school is somehow finding a way to give out electronics as prizes. The prize this month is apparently a DS. I heard someone behind me during the assembly getting excited about the DS, honestly, think about it, there's nearly a thousand people in our school, the chances of winning the prize is slim. I just honestly think that using the money to buy expensive prizes instead of using it for school expenses is just pointless.

That's all for now, hope you guys have a great year!
